Valley of the rocks number 1

Monument Valley looking North from Route 163, the ‘Trail of the Ancients.’ Taken with a Nikon D700 during a road trip through the Navajo Nation in 2017. It is indeed a fantastic landscape of vast sandstone buttes rising up from the Colorado Plateau. Who cannot witness this few square miles of sandstone ‘monuments’, sculpted into these majestic shapes by the raw power of the wind, without realising just how much they have defined how we imagine the Old West to be. Being there feels like treading in the footsteps of John Wayne in ‘The Searchers’. It is a place that is both awesome and touching in its beauty.
