Gamma ray bursts come in threes

So what are gamma ray bursts? According to Wikipedia they are the brightest explosions in the known universe. Nothing to be said about the unknown one then? First seen in 1967 (by a US airforce satellite snitching on Russia, would you believe) they are generated, it is thought, by supermassive stars collapsing into neutron stars or even black holes, and they can generate more energy in a few seconds than our sun in its entire lifetime of 10 billion years. That’s packing quite a punch! This fine-art print should be seen for what it is, a colourful piece of abstract expressionism with a fair helping of surrealism thrown in for good measure. However, it’s always fun to try and interpret an image and give it meaning. Besides, why shouldn’t gamma ray bursts come in threes? I just hope you like the image.
