Dove lake, Cradle mountain

A view of Cradle Mountain, Tasmania, taken from some distance along the shoreline of Dove Lake in 2017. For you photo enthusiasts it was taken on a Nikon D810, a dream camera. There is such a rich variety of textures in the water, rocks and trees that by far the best approach to reveal this wonderful landscape was to go monochrome. Nothing handles texture and tone better than black and white; it gives a drama to the landscape which would be lost with colour. The composition was given a nice balance by the fortuitous placement (not by me!) of the boulder in the foreground.
