Cradle mountain, Tasmania
printed on Giclée Epson Semi-Gloss
Photograph taken in late afternoon light from a vantage point along Dove Lake with a Nikon D810 in 2017. The jagged contours of Cradle Mountain wrap around the waters, ice cool and clear as glass, of this serene lake. It is a dramatically beautiful vista, a sight, once seen, never to be forgotten. This Jurassic dolomite peak has to be one of Tasmania’s iconic highlights and on a day when the sun breaks through the clouds it is indeed a panorama of what a landscape, at its grandest, has to offer. Only a day earlier this stunning vista had been wrapped in persistent low cloud and a passing traveller would have missed this awesome display of rugged nature. Perhaps you may never have the opportunity to stand and gaze at this majestic scene, but at least you have the photograph.
