A yaggle of yachts

Original photograph taken in 2017 at the floating marina, Sandringham Yacht Club, Melbourne, Victoria. It was a perfectly still and cloudless April day, and this multitude of yachts sat, still as limpets, on the mirror-flat aquamarine water. Why a ‘yaggle’ of yachts? Well, if you can have a scurry of squirrels, a covey of quail, a gaggle of geese, and a battery of barracudas…..the list could go on…..then why not a ‘yaggle’ of yachts! Now there’s a new word for the Oxford English Dictionary! That confused riot of masts and hulls? ‘Yaggle’ sounds kind of right.
