Chicago under a burning sky
Terry Baker
printed on Giclée Epson Semi-Gloss
This image has been developed from the same source photograph as ‘Boogie woogie’, another fine-art print in the series, ‘Chicago Surreal’. The subject is the Jewellers/Pure Oil Tower, designed by Joachim Giaver and Frederick Dinkelberg, on East Wacker Drive, taken from a vantage point on the Chicago River. The creative intention here was to capture all the buzz, zeal and optimism of this great city by producing a clear, graphic architectural image with bold colours, made even more intense by posterisation, under an impossibly red sky, a dramatic touch that appears in a number of other images in this series. Chicago and Surrealism? Like bread and butter, a great combination!
