Checkerboard number 77
Terry Baker
printed on Giclée Epson Semi-Gloss
Another fine-art print derived (as are 'Leaded light implosion' and 'Leaded light with unexpected bubbles') from a straightforward photograph of 77 West Wacker Drive, taken in Chicago in 2009 on a Nikon D700. This image also belongs in the series 'Chicago Surreal'. A lengthy and painstaking process of edit and re-edit has been done both in Lightroom and Photoshop to achieve the final result. Perspective has been adjusted to create parallel verticals, window spaces converted to simple squares and rectangles and individually coloured with the 'paint bucket' tool. This is all about post-modern architecture being transformed into post-modern abstract art. Chicago architecture is a rich mine of creative ideas for an artist. Piet Mondrian would certainly have approved. In fact he probably did!
