Dysfunctional twins unravellingG

Following the process of destroying the surface of photographs through intense heat, the two holes I burned in this image and the surrounding blistering became the starting point for the twins. The subsequent digital editing was used entirely in the service of the imagination, which must always be allowed the freedom to flow where it will. Dali, I am sure, would have approved.
The inescapable duality of our world is revealed in the archetype of the twins, which represent the division of the perfect whole into two distinct and conflicting halves. This war of opposites renders clearly the psyche's predisposition to pull in two apparently contrary directions. By not being a whole the twins are effectively dysfunctional.
