The rainbow in my field
Terry Baker
printed on Giclée Epson Semi-Gloss
The ox-eye daisy, ringed in white,
Stares upward at the vaulted light
And bids the midday sun reveal
The yellow buttered camomile.
No cobalt sky could be more blue
Than the sapphire gleam of cornflower hue.
The dancing poppy's garnet flush
New paints the air with carefree brush.
All of nature's shades unveiled
By the rainbow growing in my field.
A tiny snippet of a flower meadow in full regalia, a carpet of colour in a never-ending vista of green. Photographed in the rolling hills of the Derbyshire Dales, UK. What a joy for this lonely walker to stumble upon a kaleidoscope of colours on a soundless summer's day. It was indeed a worthwhile walk, if only to see this rainbow so casually painted on the viridian field.
