    Terry Baker
    printed on Giclée Epson Semi-Gloss

This fine-art image was developed from a photograph taken, in 2017, at the end of the narrow Standley Chasm, a spectacular geographical feature tracing a natural creek bed and with sheer rock walls rising up some 80 meters.  This must see site is to be found in the Red Centre, Northern Territory, Australia, and it is managed by the direct descendants of the Western Arrernte people who have walked this land for tens of thousands of years.  It was not the best of days to enjoy this short and easy trail as there had been frequent rainfall in this normally parched, bone-dry landscape.  A feeble sun, however, had managed to break through the fine veil of cloud and for a few fleeting seconds a soft burst of light fell upon the white bark of a tree growing at the very end  of the walk, making it appear to glow and cast a pearlescent light on the surrounding rocks.  It was a beautiful moment, an image captured just in time, before the sun disappeared once more behind the cloud veil.
